How about a self catering holiday on the river? Something different to a holiday cottage, but still with all the home comforts, plus you get the opportunity to experience a unique sailing holiday in some of the UK's  most idyllic, sheltered cruising grounds.

On the catamaran you will find all the facilities found in a holiday home: Fridge, freezer, microwave, gas hob and oven, 2 bathrooms with walk in showers, flat screen tv with dvd and freeview, quality cotton bedding, heating and much more. There is plenty of space on board, as a catamaran is almost twice as wide as a traditional monohull of the same length.

On your own luxury 41 foot yacht we can venture up river for the night, tie up on a pontoon in the maritime town of Falmouth or head over to the picturesque Helford River for a couple of days.

Our self catering charters involve a degree of light hands-on crewing when under way - activities that will hopefully enhance your holiday.

Your home for the cruise...

When you step aboard Catalouf III we really hope you make yourselves at home and use the facilities provided freely. The skipper is there to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely and to help out with the preparation of meals and domestics if required!

Groceries:

We recommend you stock up with groceries etc before you join the yacht (there are several major supermarkets in the Falmouth area). There will be opportunity to replenish should you need to during your holiday.

If you prefer, we can purchase your initial groceries and have them on board when you arrive.  There will be a fee for this service (see rates)

Please note charterers are responsible for cost of feeding Skipper.

Typical Itinerary:

A typical overnight cruise would include overnight stays in one of the ancorages detailed on the map (here) around the Carrick Roads and Helford River.

Here's some examples:

  1. Sail up the River Fal.  Tie up at the Smugglers for lunch (photo below).  Anchor overnight at Malpas.

Guests can go ashore at Malpas where there's some lovely river side walks.  Enjoy a drink in the Heron Inn by the river or venture further up the river on the kayaks.

  1. 1-2 nights on the Falmouth visitors pontoon.  Here you can enjoy the bustling town of Falmouth and have the yacht all to yourselves for a couple of nights.  There are some superb restaurants in Falmouth  eg Wheel House for seafood.  Rick Steins for fish and chips..

  1. 1-2 nights on the River Helford.  After a sail across Falmouth Bay we head up the beautiful Helford Passage.

Get the tides right and we can tie alongside Tremayne Quay for the night (built for a visit by Queen Victoria who didn't turn up in the end due to inclement weather!).

  1. If the wind and tides are favourable, then a sail to Fowey for the night or two is an option.

Activities:

On the Water:

Anchor off one of the secluded beaches for a swim, and bbq on the beach. Venture further up the creeks in a kayak - there are 2 onboard, or bring your own (more). Go fishing either off the yacht or from the dinghy.  Head off for a sail on the catamaran, or just lie back and read a book on one of the trampolines on deck.

Gardens Galore:

If gardens are your thing, we’ve devised a cruise to take in some of Cornwall’s beautiful gardens - Trebah GardenGlendurgan Garden and Trelissick Gardens.  All accessible from the water.

Walking:

There are some stunning walks that follow the coast and rivers, with short ferryboat trips between river banks.  Plan your days walk with the skipper so he can sail on to your destination where we anchor over night so you can rest your weary feet. More links..

Truro:

Visit Cornwall’s cathedral city.  Heading up the River Fal (a trip in itself) to Malpas.  Here you leave the yacht and hop on a bus for a 10 min ride to Truro for the day.  Skipper and yacht will wait for your return and find an anchorage for the night in Malpas.

Bespoke Activity Holidays:

Why not treat the catamaran as a 'floating hotel' and choose your own water and land based activities?  Cornwall Guide is a good starting point for creating your own activity holiday.

Please note: weather conditions and tides can influence itineraries

Staying the night on board is an unforgettable experience - it's where you really soak up your surroundings.
